What is a property inventory report?
A property inventory (sometimes called a schedule of condition) records the condition and contents of a rented home, room by room, with photos. It’s made at the start of a tenancy as the check-in report and compared at the end in a check-out report, so everyone can see what has changed.
With Tenventory you take the photos in the app, add a condition and comment to each one, and send a professional PDF by email.
Do tenants need their own inventory?
It’s strongly recommended. If your landlord or letting agent doesn’t give you an inventory, or theirs is thin, your own dated photos are the best way to show the home’s condition when you moved in. That evidence matters if there’s a disagreement about your deposit at the end of the tenancy.
How do I prove the condition of a rented home for my deposit?
Take clear, dated photos of every room on the day you move in, before you unpack, including close-ups of any marks. Note meter readings, keys and alarm tests. Send the report to your landlord or agent so they have a copy, and keep one yourself. At the end, retake the same photos so they can be compared side by side.
Tenventory stamps every photo with the date, time and location, and gives each one a digital fingerprint so any later edit can be detected.
When should I do my move-in inventory?
On the day you move in, before you unpack. Empty rooms are quicker to photograph and nothing hides marks on walls or floors. Send the report to your landlord or agent within the first few days so they have it on record.
